I’m a child of the 70s — and if you know anything about that era, you know the music wasn’t just something playing in the background. It was everything.
I grew up on Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers Band, and the raw, soulful magic of Janis Joplin. Those songs weren’t just tracks on an album — they were the soundtrack to road trips, late nights, long talks, and learning who I was becoming.
Music runs deep in my family.
My father was a Grammy Award–winning record producer, so I was raised in a world where music wasn’t treated like background noise — it was respected, studied, and felt. I learned early that a great song can change your mood, your memories, and sometimes even your direction in life.
And just like any proud mother, I passed that love right down to my children. From rock classics to modern favorites, music has always been how we connect — cooking together, riding in the car, cleaning the house, or just sitting and talking. There’s almost always something playing.
These days, all those old favorites and new obsessions live right on my phone. I don't know what you use to listen to your music. I use Amazon Music Unlimited — which still amazes me that more people don't know about! If you've never tried it, feel free to use the link above to get 30 days free to try it out.
What I appreciate most about it is the freedom — millions of songs, no ads, and the ability to jump from 90's Country to Southern Rock to Clair de Lune all in a matter of minutes. Mornings, I’m blasting Zeppelin while making coffee and cleaning up, and maybe some Luciano Pavarotti while working on updating my Amazon Store. I can create my own playlists, rediscover old favorites, or let Amazon curate something new for me when I’m feeling adventurous
Music has always been part of who I am.
It’s comfort. It’s energy. It’s nostalgia.
And honestly? It keeps me young.
Because no matter how old we get — some things never change.
And for me, that will always be music. 💕
